CASSIDY SONKENS, LMHCA

You’ve spent a long time making sure everyone else feels okay.

You can set that down here.

Many people become experts at carrying what was never meant to be theirs: managing everyone else’s emotions, keeping the peace, anticipating what might go wrong, and pushing through quietly while wondering who is taking care of them.

Therapy with Cassidy offers a different experience - one where you do not have to perform, hold everything together, or figure it all out before you arrive. Together, you can get curious about the patterns that keep showing up, what they have been protecting, and whether there is room now for something different.

Cassidy works with teens, adults, and couples navigating relationship patterns, codependency and over-functioning, attachment and betrayal trauma, anxiety, burnout, stress, and major life transitions. She sees clients in person and offers telehealth throughout Washington.

AREAS OF FOCUS

TEENS. ADULTS. COUPLES.

Meet Cassidy

WARM. CURIOUS. GROUNDED.

You may already understand why certain patterns keep showing up in your life, yet still find yourself reacting in ways you wish you could change. Cassidy is interested in that gap between insight and lived change.

Cassidy sees many of the patterns people struggle with as responses that once made sense. The difficulty is that what helped at one point can start getting in the way later. Rather than judging a pattern, Cassidy helps clients understand what it has been trying to accomplish and what might make a different response possible now.

She works from a trauma-informed, relational perspective and draws from attachment-based therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), somatic approaches, polyvagal-informed care, and Compassion Focused Therapy. The goal is not to collect more insight for its own sake, but to help you understand yourself more fully and build changes that feel meaningful in everyday life.

Cassidy may be a particularly good fit if you understand your patterns intellectually but still feel pulled into them in real time, or if you are tired of being the person who keeps everything together for everyone else.

Outside the Therapy Room

Cassidy believes levity and depth can exist in the same room. Outside of work, you will probably find her tucked into a coffee shop near the water with a book or watercolor paints. Her cats may also make the occasional surprise appearance during telehealth sessions.

If Cassidy feels like a good fit, you can schedule a free consultation to talk about what you’re looking for and ask any questions before beginning therapy.
